A pile integrity test is one of the methods for assessing the condition of piles or shafts. It is cost effective and time saving service. Pile integrity test is used to assess the continuity of piles. With this test, necking or bulging and uniformity of quality of concrete is checked. Usually the method is applied to recently constructed piles that are not yet connected to a structure. However, this method is also used to test the integrity and to determine the length of piles embedded in structures.
The test operates in both the time and frequency domain and can provides depth measurement to pile toe/defect, pile head stiffness, pile mobility, pile impedance profiles and simulation of test results. TDR has been shown to be the most accurate method for assessing cast in place foundations, but can also be used on precast and timber piles.
